Yankee Stadium: Discovering the Features and Design of the Major Ballpark in New York
The new Yankee Stadium opened last April 3, 2009 with an exhibition game against the Chicago Cubs. It is an open air stadium with grass surface on the playing field.
The new Yankee Stadium has the same dimensions as the old Yankee Stadium. It is located just across the old one. The facade looks like the old Yankee Stadium but the interior is a separate structure that rises above the exterior.

A hall, aptly called The Great Hall, is between the interior structure and exterior wall and houses several retail stores. These include the Home Plate Store, New Era Yankee Stadium Flagship Store, and the Great Hall Store. Visitors can buy authentic Yankee merchandises, such as jerseys, caps, and a lot more.

The new Yankee Stadium has more comfortable seats and improved line of sight. It has two seating decks, unlike the old configuration of three. This allows two-thirds of the seats to be located in the lower deck. Seats in the left-field and right-field foul lines are now angled more towards the infield.
It features a state of the art audio/visual equipment to place the action closer to the audience. It has 59 feet by 101 feet true HD video screen and 4 feet by 1,280 feet full-color LED ribbon board that spans the entire Terrace Level.
