It is the new home ground of the New York Yankees team after the old Yankee Stadium was shut down. This ball park is right across the street of its predecessor. The new Yankee Stadium opened on the 2nd of April in 2009. Most of the stadium is a look alike of the old as a mark of respect.

The Yankee stadium was built at a cost of $1.5 billion thus making it second only to the Wembley Stadium in respect of expense. The work on the new stadium started in August 2006 but various issues marred the smooth construction of the place and finally the work was completed in 2009 and the New York Yankees team continued to play in their old ballpark till then.
