New York Harbor
There are a number of attractions in New York City that one must visit. One of the most important places is the New York Harbor that forms a part of all New York City travel deals.
The New York Harbor is a geographic term used to describe the collection of water bodies at the mouth of the Hudson River in New York. The Upper New York Bay, Jamaica Bay and North River are some of the water bodies which constitute the New York Harbor. The New York Harbor was used mainly for traveling and fishing by the aborigines in the early seventeenth century.
In the early part of the nineteenth century The New York Harbor became the most important port connecting Europe and the coastlines with the heart of America. After World War 2, this harbor became the busiest in the world with a large quantity of heavy apparatus.

The main entrance to the harbor is along the Atlantic Ocean, all the way down till the southeast, between Sandy Hook and Rockaway Point. An alternate entrance is through the Long Island Sound from the northeast at the opening of East River. The Coast Guard looks after all the affairs of the harbor which stretches to the mouth of the Raritan River in the southwest, Port Newark in the northwest and the George Washington Bridge in the north.
There are many tours which one can take at the New York Harbor. One can choose from a variety of walking tours, kayaking and audio boat tours.
