Little Italy

During your travel to the New York city you must visit Little Italy, a small and happening neighborhood in New York. Located in Lower Manhattan (very close to Chinatown), this place is known for its large population of Italians.

The famous shop- La Bella Ferrara Pasticceria specialize in Italian pastries and desserts. Locate in grand street, the Di Palo Fine Foods and Piemonte Co is where you can buy food products. The Il Coccio in Hester Street is famous for its Italian Ceramics. You can also shop at the Little Italy Gift Shop and Sandy's, which offer gift items, hats, sunglasses, clothing and shoes.

Many tourists plan their travel during the Feast of San Gennaro. This is a large street fair which lasts for 11 days. It is held in the last two weeks of September every year. During this festival the Mulberry Street between Houston and Mosco Streets is crowded by locals and tourists.

This feast is marked with processions which comprise two parades, each sporting the Statue of San Gennaro. The parades begin on Mulberry Street and proceed to East Houston Street, Mott Street, Grand Street, Mulberry and then south on Mulberry to Canal. On the official feast day, the statue of San Gennaro is carried through the feast just after Celebratory Mass.
