Some of the important rules and regulations are:

Photography and filming of any city property is allowed provided there is no obstruction caused in the lanes of street or walkway of bridge and no disturbance caused in pedestrian traffic.

An individual has the liberty to take pictures of various architectural works provided the building and the work is easily visible from a public place.

Video recording, filming and photography in New York subway and any of its facility and conveyance is permitted with no use of other equipments like reflectors, tripod and lights.

Photography of tunnels and MTA Bridges is not directly mentioned in the regulations, but recently the organizations have passed few regulations and tourists should look for posts before taking pictures.

Photography of any military, defense and naval installations is strictly unlawful.

Photography is also prohibited in PATH system.
