Visiting Hudson River Park in New York City: Enjoyable Strolling under the Yellow Rays of a Setting Sun
New York is one of the most highly populated and diverse cities in US. In their quest for a place ideal for playing, running, dancing, boating or educating children about the culture and history, Hudson Park was designed.
Green shores, blue waters and open sky were prime focus during this designed. It was only in the year 1998 that Hudson River Park Act officially created this park reserving extensive portion of water fronts for use of general public and thus limiting all sorts of commercial activities in this locality.
The Hudson River Park Act also designated the water as an estuarine sanctuary. The estimated cost for constructing this park is $330 million. Both the state and city have already contributed $100 million towards this project. Officially this park begins at Battery Place with a bikeway and walkway extending five miles along the length of the park to 59th street.
Construction of this park is on the verge of completion and currently you can find a bike path encircling the entire outer perimeter of Manhattan. Some of the attractions of Hudson River Park are museums, movie theatres, parking garages, restaurants, hotels, bars & clubs and stores and boutiques.
At present Pier 25 provides a small snack bar and sand area for beach volley ball. A miniature golf course is also opened. This golf course remains open for six months i.e., from May to October. This Park is also the home of Downtown boathouse where members can actually store small crafts like canoes and kayaks. An ecological educational and research center by the name "River Project" is also located in Hudson River Park.
Several other events like Stroller strides, a fitness class for moms is also held here every Monday and Wednesday from 10am to 11am. So check out this beautiful spot during your next visit to New York City.
