
A Guide to Chrysler Building: An Amazing Art Deco Skyscraper in New York
The Chrysler Building is Art Deco Skyscraper located on the east side of Manhattan in New York City. It was tallest building in the world for about 11 months but was taken over by Empire State Building in 1931. Chrysler Building is one of the best examples of Art Deco architecture and also it is considered as one of the finest buildings of all time of New York. It was ranked ninth in the list given by the America's Favorite Architecture by American Institute of Architects.
This building was designed by architect William Van Alen. And it witnessed that no worker lost their life in the construction of huge project. It is also considered as the masterpiece of Art Deco architecture. It is constructed with steel frames and metal claddings. The biggest achievement of this building was that it was National Historic Landmark in 1976.
This building is well known for its terraced crown which compromises of seven radiating terraced arches. Lighting is another important feature of this building as there are two sets of lighting one in top spores and other is decoration. The top roof of the building allows many colors to light on special occasions.
This building has been featured in many televisions programs, movies and other media also. In the movie Predator 2 there is a short scene which has been shooted on this building where the predator is holding a trophy raising up on the building. In Spider Man, when he was the mourning the Uncle Ben's murder.
