Statistics reveal that it is by far the busiest bridge in the World with over a hundred million vehicles passing through it in a year. It has an approximate length of 1451 metres. It provides vehicles with two levels, an upper level with four lanes in either direction and a lower level with three lanes in either direction. Secondary lanes on each side of the upper level provide for pedestrian and bicycle traffic of New York City. With such facilities it is no surprise that the bridge always remains busy with traffic.

The bridge had been built with a lot of care and investment. The suspension technology proved useful. Flexible steel towers and cable-spinning technology was extensively used in making this bridge. The steel towers were essentially made from granite and concrete panels. The bridge had been made in a way so as to provide for potential expansions in the future which did take place later in 1942.
The bridge was a result of vision and hard work is a symbol of excellence in American soil.
